An Hourly Wage Calculator That Tracks Itself
Most hourly wage calculators are static — you type in your hours and your rate, get a number, and close the tab. Timely is different: it tracks the hours for you and updates your earnings in real time, every shift.
Live earnings, not just a number
- Set your hourly rate once. Clock in. Watch your gross pay tick up as you work.
- Enter your own tax rate to see an after-tax estimate next to your gross.
- Set an earnings goal with Elite and track progress toward it.
- See your earnings trend over time with the Elite earnings chart.
Check your math against your paycheck
- Paycheck Match (Elite) compares your tracked hours against a paycheck you enter
- Choose your pay period — weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly
- Optionally apply a weekly overtime threshold and multiplier to the comparison
- Spot the gap when a paycheck comes in lower than the hours you actually worked
Know your real numbers
- Log extra pay as a separate entry (Elite) — tips, bonus, commission, holiday pay
- Log work expenses with receipts (Elite) so your net isn't just guesswork
- See total hours and total earnings across your whole history
- Keep your own record instead of trusting a schedule or a pay stub
Frequently asked questions
Is the hourly wage calculator free?
Yes. Setting your rate, clocking shifts, and watching live gross earnings are all free. Earnings goals, the trend chart, expense and extra-pay entries, and detailed tax breakdowns are part of Elite.
Does it handle overtime?
Not automatically — Timely does not apply an overtime multiplier to your shifts on its own. You can log an Overtime pay entry (Elite), and Paycheck Match (Elite) can apply a weekly overtime threshold when comparing tracked hours to a paycheck.
Can I calculate take-home pay?
Timely applies a single flat tax percentage that you enter — it's an estimate, not a real tax calculation. It does not use federal or state tax brackets, and it doesn't know about your filing status or deductions.
Can I compare two jobs?
Not directly. Timely tracks one rate profile rather than separate jobs, so there's no side-by-side job comparison. You can tag shifts and set per-shift rates with Elite.
Does it work for tipped employees?
Partly. You can log tips as an extra pay entry on a shift (Elite) so your earnings reflect more than base wage. Timely does not calculate tip-out, split cash from credit tips, or handle tipped-minimum-wage make-up pay.
